The Town of High Prairie Volunteer Fire Department strives to maintain a crew of 30 plus energetic volunteer firefighters. The list of apparatus on the Towns fleet is two pumper trucks, one of which is a 78 ft ladder truck, two rapid attack units and a rescue unit which responds to motor vehicle collisions. The Fire Department also maintains and runs a pumper truck and a 2000 gallon water tender for Big Lakes County
The High Prairie Volunteer Fire Department provides fire protection to 3000 people within the Town of High Prairie and approximately the same population to residents within Big Lakes County. Our fire protection covers an area of approximately 2000 sq. Kilometers.
For vehicle extrication and motor vehicle collisions the Volunteer Department covers an area of approximately 9000 sq kilometers. Included in this area are five Reserves and four Settlements. We also provide mutual aid to Big Lakes County, Municipal District of Greenview, Municipal District of Smokey, and the Town of Slave Lake.
